HA30: Ileum, cat, PAS, Hematoxylin

In some parts of this image, the villi (v) were cut longitudinally; elsewhere they appear in cross section because they were folded over when the tissue was fixed (HA30). Villi are flexible and move with the passage of food in the lumen. A few large lacteals (l) can be seen descending through the lamina propria into the submucosa (s). The goblet cells were stained purple in this sample.
