The follicular epithelium is usually simple cuboidal. The epithelial cells are called the follicular cells. Note the very small, "colloid droplets" (HA10, arrow) within the follicular cells. These represent thyroglobulin being made and iodothyroglobulin being broken down into T3 and T4.
