The fibrocartilage shown in HA25 forms the transition between a ligament and hyaline cartilage (HA24, h) that surrounds the bone of the vertebral column. The chondrocytes in the fibrocartilage are arranged in a linear pattern, like beads on a string, between the dense collagen bundles (HA25). np is the nucleus pulposus.
